“I am Vermont Strong”
::
What does that mean???
::
To me it means, I am resilient. Floods, snow storms, humid heat, a lot of time alone, a community that asks for one day a year to sit in Town Meeting, though all of that I stay in this state.
::
This state of awareness that nature heals, nature needs our consciousness, a mindfulness that we are all connected like the roots and mycelium underground.
::
That the clear and open skies at night alert us to how big the universe is and how we are one part of it.
::
This state where there are more cultural events than we can go to within a few miles. Beautiful, thought provoking, nourishing, fun and when we are really lucky, silly.
::
I am strong because of living here. I am vulnerable too, and at the ground level, I know that the environment here will hold what ever I need it too.
::
Living here uplifts me, a safe place to be queer. A fine place to raise kids. Woods and meadows to wow me everyday. Birds, Fowl, to keep my eyes looking up.
::
Coyotes, martins and bears to remind me about the cycle of life. Predator and prey all want the same thing. To live.
::
I am Vermont Strong.
